Pool party with the cousins....

Every year we have picnics with Daddy's side of the family one weekend with one side and another weekend with the other.  For this one we gathered at Grandma and Grandpa's house and the great grandkids got to play in the water with each other.  What fun they had taking turns dumping water on each other.  It was a warm sunny day so it was perfect for water playing.
See the big smiles!
Everyone is having fun!
How many cousins can you fit in a small kiddie pool? 5!
Sometimes you just want a pool to yourself especially when the other one is so crowded. :)

Swim Lessons

Wow this summer just flew by.  I'm trying to catch up on my posts since school and other activities will have me busy.

So this summer we tried a different swim school about 20 or so minutes from our home.  I wasn't thrilled with my kids taking the same swim lessons over again when they only practice floating one day.   In order to pass the class you need to float on your own.  For my kids one class on floating wont get them to float.  So we left the old and went to the new!  Both kids were floating by the end of the first week!!  The kids were doing so well that we signed them up for a second round of swim lessons. They loved it!
First day of lessons.  We signed up with our friends for the first two weeks and had a blast!

Wiggles and Monkey in their respective classes.  (week 1)

Wiggles and Monkey in their lessons (week 2)
By the end of the second week Monkey ended up having a private lesson. No one else in his class showed up on the last day of lessons.  Cool for Monkey he got some more one on one time and was able to have lots of practice before we left on on family vacation.

Slurpees and Popsicles

I learned early enough this year of Free Slurpee Day at 7/11.  So I made a point to take my kids over. We had to stand in line and well we had some malfunctions with the slurpee  machine, but we did make it out of there with a slurpee for each of us.

And if those weren't enough sugary sweets we made popsicles with Monkey's new popsicle maker.
Here's Monkey making the first popsicle.  We used kiwi strawberry juice and grape juice.
Here's Wiggles making hers.
Kids enjoying their popsicles. Yum Yum!

Happy Birthday Padwan!

Our little man loves Star Wars, if you read my blog for awhile you'd know given the decorations in his new room ~ Star Wars vinyls.  So when it came time to Celebrate his birthday we asked what kind of party do you want? I only asked out of curiosity he might of changed his mind.  Nope Star Wars.  Great I'd borrowed two cake molds from my Mother in Law at the beginning of the year knowing that Monkey was going to want a Star Wars cake and how cute would it be since his daddy had one when he was little.   When asked which cake do you want R2D2 or Darth Vader?  Duh Mom, Darth Vader hands down of course.  Okay so the cake was at least figured out.  But where to have the party.  Monkey's Birthday is in July and it's not cool out either.  So I started looking for A/C venues, several of them.  It came down to cost!  So we went bowling with several friends and some family.  Monkey had a great time bowling and was totally happy that his friends would come bowling with him.
Here's Monkey taking a turn.
Some of Monkey's friends.
Friends
Monkey and Ace they are only 4 days apart with their birthdays. Ace's mom and I were to go in the same day and have our little men.  Only I went in on the Monday and she went in as scheduled on Friday. They are best buds!
Here's a picture of the Darth Vader cake.

Funny thing about black icing.  It temporarily turns your mouth black too.  You can see Monkey's lips are a shade of black.  If he had smiled you would have seen black teeth too. Which reminded me of the movie The Patriot where the girl puts black ink in the boys tea.

What do you do?

What do you do when your son asks you to make him a Star Wars cake for his birthday.  You go out and buy lots of Black gel for icing and make a Star Wars cake of his favorite character! That's what you do!
I did use all three bottles of the black gel.
