Happy Valentine's Day

This must mean one thing.  It's Valentine's Day and I made too many cake balls.  I made cake balls for the kids  school teachers.  But I had way too many so I sent them along with an experiment of Thin Mint Brownies with Hubby to work.  I was only going to send the brownies but then he had to work on the Saturday before and he came home with donuts and creme puffs that were left over.  So I sent him with the goods to get back at them. :)
For dinner that night we had a candle light dinner. Now for those that know about the You Are Special Plates. These red plates are from the same maker!  I got them at Home Goods on a whim.  My friend and I actually made a date to go do girl stuff with out the kids.  So we went shopping. I haven't gone into Home Goods much so  I jumped at the chance.  When we got in the store we just went from isle to isle.  I saw this and make a bee line for them. Checked the back and whoa!  I started grabbing dishes.  I must have looked like a complete nut job to my friend but when I explained she totally got it.  Now I have plates I can use for any holiday that has red in it. To boot red is my all time FAVORITE color.
I also got this cool cake/dessert plate.  I can change out the ribbon for what ever holiday it might be.  Check back around St. Patrick's Day I bet you'll see the plate again with green trim. :)   I forgot to take pictures of all we did that day.  But I did make a nice breakfast of heart shaped pancakes and we used the red plates too.  I made a really nice dinner of Lasagna rolls and ceasar salad.  We also had ice cream with the above cake I made.  The kids and Hubby got chocolate for Valentine's day.  Hope you all had a nice Valentine's Day.

Since the curl is gone. :( sniff sniff

I recently was looking at pictures of Wiggles when she was small.  She had lovely curls and I was hopeful that she would get my natural curly hair.  Sadly she out grew the curl.  Really this is sad to me, she is beautiful the way God has made her and continues to make her as she grows.  But I loved those curls.  So we spent one Friday night braiding her hair just so she'd have waves in it the next day.
Before
After.

Super Bowl Sunday

This year we decided on a Super Bowl Party last minute of course.  I wasn't really paying close attention to when it was either.  We had dinner at a friends house the weekend before and the subject of what are you doing for Super Bowl started. None of us had plans so on our way home I casually said why don't we have a few friends over.  So the next afternoon or morning can't remember I went on to evite and made up the invite.  Sent it out and what would you know people started saying yes they'd come. So we had a total of 19 people over.  10 Adults and 9 kids.  It was really fun to have everyone over.  Dear Hubby worked it so we could watch the game in HD and still hear it through the stereo system, and on the BIG screen.

We all watched some portion of the game. The actual game or half time who's counting. I do have to say that the half time show was the worst one yet!  Only Axle Rose should be singing some songs.
Thankfully it was a nice day out so the girls and boy could play outside.
While us Mom's talked and Dad's watched the game. :)

A day off.

I don't remember what the reason was but both kids were off from school. So We took a trip to the all NEW Safari park. (It's not new it's the Animal Park but for some weird reason they changed the name).  So here is Wiggles.
Here is Monkey waiting to get on the tram ride to see the animals.
One of our favorite animals to go see at the Zoo or in this case the Safari Park.
Here they come.  We tried to stick around for the Elephant show but realized they had moved it too late so where we thought they were doing the show really isn't where they do it.  So we moved on to other animals.

Beach Weather

Recently we made it over to the beach. Yes January and the beach.  This is what happens when you live on the West coast and get warm weather.  They were looking for sand dollars and sea shells.
Both Monkey and Wiggles were playing in the water too. Wiggles would hike up her shorts so they wouldn't get wet but that didn't work for very long.
They love the water especially when they get to chase the waves back and forth.

Volkswagen Commercial: The Force

So our little monkey loves Darth Vader and even then saying that is an understatement. When this came on tonight we were looking for Monkey but he was playing with his friends. This is SO MONKEY!! Watching the commercial was like watching our son. SO Cute!!!

Christmas Present from Nani and Papa!

Nani and Papa out did themselves this year!

This Christmas Nani and Papa got the kids a climbing dome for the backyard.  It did not get here by the time we did our Christmas with them but we did get it Christmas Eve and we put it together after we got back from our Anniversary Trip.  The kids did a great job helping Daddy put it together and I being the family historian made sure to document it step by step. ;)
Supplies
Nuts and Bolts Boy
Laying out the ground level. Making sure all the parts are there.
So this structure is 15 feet wide and will end up at 8 feet high when fully assembled.
The kids got tired of helping (no surprise) and decided to cloud watch.
Wiggles playing with the parts while Daddy assembles. She's pretending to ride a horse.
If I could write their reactions I would but not sure how to spell the sounds they uttered. They were so excited and couldn't wait for Daddy to finish.
Nuts and Bolts Girl helping Daddy tighten them down.  I helped too when it got too tall for the kids.
YES!! Time to play above no fear Wiggles trying to climb to the top. Below a bit fearful Monkey.
And then their was Daddy, who had to out do the two kids.  Now for some of you who don't know this is all made out of PVC pipe.  There is no metal, which means they should still be able to play with it when it's hot out and no rusting!
The final picture is 15 feet by 6 feet tall. We will add the extra two feet when the kids are older and more comfortable on it.  So far we've had a few friends over to play on it and all have enjoyed. Thanks Nani and Papa!!!

You are special!

So when we got home from our trip we got a letter in the mail.  It said that Monkey was getting a special award. Student of the Month.  We were so excited for him.  This is the first time one of the kids got this award.  So we pulled out our You are special today mug and plate for him to use.  Another child in the house was quite bent out of shape about this.  You know sometimes you can't be first at everything.  Monkey got to pick what we were having for dinner as well.  You guessed it pizza!  We are so happy and proud of Monkey for doing a great job at school and showing kindness, and Christian values.  He's growing up in to a wonderful little man.
Here is Monkey waiting to get his award.  We didn't tell him he was getting the award.  His teacher did tell him while we were waiting in chapel for the awards to be passed out.  His buddy M was sitting next to him and his teacher is behind him.
Here is Monkey with the Pastor of the school and the Principal.  He was so excited to get this award. But humble about it too.
Here is a picture of some of the kids that also got Student of the Month.
All the kids with Pastor and the Principal.
Me and my little man!  I'm so proud of all he's accomplished this year at school.
